1980s

During the 1980s, the area between Modena and Bologna became more and more a reference point for mechanics and the automotive industry: major brands such as Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Ducati established themselves internationally, and so the demand for the transport of components for the engineering and earthmoving industries added to the services already offered for agriculture.

This quickly became the 'core business' of 'Gottardi Rodolfo' which, in 1988, was transformed from a sole proprietorship into 'Gottardi Rodolfo & C. Snc'. In these years, the company already had more than twenty trucks, and the eldest son Giovanni began his work alongside his father.

Due to the increase in the amount of goods movement required (the singular sounds better in my opinion) by metalworking companies, it was decided to open a branch/depot in Rivara (TO), a pole that groups together companies specialised in mechanics and in particular automotive.

1990s - Gianfranco and Giovanni Gottardi

The 1990s

Since 1999, the year of the founder's sudden death, the second generation of the Gottardi group has been at the helm, represented by Giovanni, born in 1970, and Gianfranco, five years younger.

Giovanni, who grew up next to his father, is not a desk jockey: as a boy he spent his weekends in the middle of the trucks joking with the drivers. He is the natural heir to Rodolfo, who passes on to the young man all the grit and determination needed to face difficult times.  

Rodolfo's death is a real jolt for the brothers: Giovanni finds himself at the helm of a successful company that can and will continue to grow. Gianfranco abandoned his university studies and joined his brother, using his knowledge of foreign languages and his IT background.

2000s - Paris Air Show

2000s

The Gottardi family started the reorganisation of the company by establishing 'Gottardi trasporti S.r.l.'.

The historical Snc is entrusted with the management of the family real estate, while the brothers divide up the business tasks: on the one hand, Giovanni takes care of the company administration, while Gianfranco devotes himself to the commercial side, developing innovations and technologies that open the door to new services and markets, even beyond the national borders, such as the ceramic, paper, food, packaging and mineral water industries.

The opening of the new, larger and more modern branch in Favria (TO) enables new container storage and transport services.

2022 - Centre of Vignola (MO)

Today, Gottardi trasporti Srl is a member of Confindustria Modena, employs around 50 employees, has 50 units including tractors and tractor-trailers and over 80 semi-trailers; it also develops permanent partnerships with over 200 units per day, resulting in a constantly growing turnover.

The company's own fleet is complemented by important research and development work in the area of environmental sustainability: with a view to minimising the environmental impact of logistics and transport activities, rules, technologies and services have been introduced for a greener future, demonstrating that the roots planted by Rodolfo are never forgotten.
